Vaccination: Is there a safer approach?
Escrito por Dr. Sherri J. Tenpenn
08.02.2006

Vaccination:
The physical act of administering an immunobiologic (vaccine) or a toxoid."

Immunization:
The process of inducing artificial immunity by administering an immunobiologic."

Although persons often use vaccination and immunization interchangeably, the terms are not synonyms…
“The administration of an immunobiologic cannot be automatically equated with the development of adequate immunity."
--CDC Report 1-28-94
Vol.43/No.RR-1

The vaccine industry’s most repeated mantra:
Vaccines are safe and effective.

Facts about “Safety Studies”

  • Studies only include “healthy” children
    • Children with chronic illnesses, seizure disorders, other medical conditions are excluded…even thoughall children will be given the vaccines after the trials
  • If side effects occur after a dose, the participant is withdrawn from the study
    • Therefore: data is skewed towards a “safe” outcome
and conclusions are based on the number of participants who completed the study

Facts about “Safety Studies”

  • A new vaccine is tested against an existing vaccine, not a true placebo
    • The side effects of the new vaccine are compared to the “side effect profile” of an existing vaccine.

Ex: many studies use to meningitis vaccine as a “placebo” because it has “no effect” in children

Ex: a new combination vaccine is compared against separate shots of each vaccine in the combination

Understanding vaccine “efficacy”

  • Scientific efficacy:
The ability to induce an antibody response
  • Clinical efficacy:
The ability to protect from infection

The presence of antibodies does not guarantee protection

  • Pertussis: “The findings of efficacy studies have not demonstrated a direct correlation between antibody response and protection against pertussis disease.”
  • MMWR March 28, 1997/Vol.46/No. RR-7, p.12

The presence of antibodies does not guarantee protection

Chickenpox:

  • “No data exists regarding post-exposure efficacy of the varicella vaccine.”
    MMWR July 12, 1996/45(RR11); p. 12
  • “The relative contribution [of immune response] to protection from chickenpox is unknown.”
    Varivax Package insert (Merck)
  • “There are insufficient data to assess the rate of protection against the complications of chickenpox (e.g., encephalitis, hepatitis, pneumonia) in children.”
    http://www.merckvaccines.com/vaccines/vari/pi_vari.pdf

The presence of antibodies does not guarantee protection

  • H. Flu (HiB): “The antibody contribution to clinical protection is unknown.”
    ---HibTITER™ package insert
  • Smallpox: “Neutralizing antibodies are reported to reflect levels of protection, although this has not been validated in the field.” JAMA June 9,1999, Vol. 281, No. 22, p.3132

List of Vaccine Ingredients (partial)

  • Aluminum hydroxide
  • Aluminum sulfate
  • Formaldehyde
  • Formalin
  • MSG
  • Phenoxyethanol
  • Polysorbate 20 & 80
  • Sucrose
  • Thimerosal (mercury)
  • Antibiotics
  • Amphotericin B, neomycin
    • polymyxin B
  • Animal tissues:
    • horse, pig, rabbit, dog
    • duck, calf, egg
    • washed sheep RBCs
    • Human diploid cells
    • Monkey (Vero Cells)
    • Chicken (Avian sera)
    • Bovine sera

Bovine Sera Contaminants

  • Bovine Sera
  • Other known contaminants include:
    • Bovine diarrhea virus (MOST COMMON)
    • Bovine leukemia virus
    • Bovine immunosuppressive virus
    • Bovine herpesvirus-4 and herpesvirus-8
    • Bovine polyoma-virus
    • Mycoplasma

Bovine Sera Contaminants

  • Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) is prepared by pooling several hundred “serum bleeds” from newborn calves. Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) is prevalent in the bovine population.
  • Commercial suppliers perform testing for biological activity of BVDV, but are not required to report the results unless requested by the purchaser.
  • Tests for other types of bovine viruses are not routinely performed

Contamination of Fetal Bovine Serum with Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus: An Issue for Manufacturers of HIV-1 Vaccines. L. Jagodzinski1 et. al. U.S. Military HIV Research Program, Rockville, MD. POSTER

  • In addition:
    • The viruses in the a lot may have no detectable “biological activity”, but the lot may contain significant levels of BVDV.
      • Contamination of Fetal Bovine Serum with Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus: An Issue for Manufacturers of HIV-1 Vaccines. L. Jagodzinski1 et. al. U.S. Military HIV Research Program, Rockville, MD.
    • The contaminant bovine viruses have been shown to be in human vaccines.
Harasawa R., Tomiyama, T.: Evidence of pestivirus in RNA in human virus vaccines. (1994) J. Clinical Microbiol. 32, 1604-1605.

Why is this a concern?

Known physiological effects of vaccinations

  • Transcession:
    • Process of absorbing genetic material from one species by another species
      • Stroun, Maurice and Anker, Philip
        Department of Plant Physiology
        World Medicine Sept. 22, 1971

Viral Recombinations
…the potential for serious consequences…

Conclusion: Two avirulent viruses may interact in vivo to produce virulent recombinants that can be lethal.

Science. 1986 Nov 7; 234(4777): 746-8.

Another problem with vaccination…

HYPERCOAGULABLITY

Hypercoagulation-Virus Connection

  • Endothelial cell disruption is a common feature of viral infection, creating a pro-coagulable state
  • Endothelial cells can be directly infected by:
    Polio, measles, mumps, others
    • Marcel Levi, MD. Endothelium: Interface between coagulation and inflammation; Critical Care Med Vol. 30, No. 5. May 2002
    • Mazure G. Measles virus induction of human endothelial cell tissue factor procoagulant activity in vitro. J Gen Virol 1994 Nov;75 ( Pt 11):2863-71

Problem of hypercoagulability

  • Tendency toward clotting
  • Hypercoagulability does not result in 100% occlusion and no clot is formed
  • Problem is ongoing fibrin deposition
  • This leads to local ischemia in the microcirculation, blocking nutrient and oxygen delivery to the brain
    • For more information, go to www.hemex.com
      • Berg D. Chronic fatigue syndrome &/or fibromyalgia as a variation of antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS): An explanatory model and approach to laboratory diagnosis. Blood Coagulation and Fibrinolysis 1999: 10 435-438.

Problems:

No such thing as a “safe vaccine”
Vaccines cause scientific efficacy, but don’t necessarily provide clinical efficacy
Unrecognized viral contaminants can lead to unknown consequences
The total number of vaccines given may be the cause for underlying, chronic health problems
Hypercoagulation syndromes:can be caused by viruses and viral contaminants may be an unrecognized contributor to health problems

Are there any “safer solutions”?

  • One option: Choose not to vaccinate
  • Second option: Become informed
    • Do your own research
    • Ask to read ALL package insert
    • Be sure that the vaccine is truly thimerosal-free (no mercury)
    • Be sure to get all questions answered to your satisfaction before proceeding
    • Know your rights
    • Know what to do if your child has a reaction
    • Are there any “safer solutions”?
  • Third option: Slow down
    • Wait until at least 6 months of age before starting any vaccines
    • Only give one vaccine at a time, at least one month apart
    • Prepare the immune system in advance
      • Cod liver oil for Vitamin A
      • Vitamin C 10mg/kg
      • Acidophilus to support the gut
      • Multivitamin for minerals, especially zinc
      • MSM or Taurine to increase sulfur-detoxification pathway capablities
      • Use homeopathy for isopathic pre-vaccine protection and post-vaccine detoxification
